Pantsing the community, or not?

So about 10 minutes ago the server started broadcasting the warning to log out before maintenance.

There's an ad hoc maintenance today in order to fix the bug that has been plaguing the missions since last week or so.

Boy, you should've seen the whinging all over the place. People were asking for compensation!

I don't always have sympathy for the support staff at IAH [because there are still quite a few problems that need solving and that have been ignored, such as abusing the bot reports, the continuing proliferation of RMT and bots, etc etc], but right at that moment, I did.

Imagine, they have a chance to respond to the community's need to have the missions fixed - and that same community they were trying to help goes up in arms against this TERRIBLE and OPPRESSIVE sudden maintenance? Boy, the support staff are caught between a rock and a hard place - the people who want bugs fixed RIGHT THE F*** NOW and complain bitterly about it, complain even MORE when the servers are temporarily stopped to implement those same bug fixes!

And when I asked via broads if people were actually looking at the official website where this maintenance had been scheduled since at least 0400 Singapore time, people called me a nerd for checking the GAME'S OFFICIAL SITE daily!

[Oooooh, so looking at the schedules for my favorite game makes me a nerd~ Lookie the widdle complainers....]

...Oh, whingers and name-callers. Never change. It's fun to laugh.

i share your sentiments, sis. iah may have a few screw ups here and there, but they are addressing the issues. complaining about the ad hoc maintenance to fix these problems is downright childish (not to mention stupid with the way they berate at you for being..what..a nerd..just for checking the web announcements? sheesh!).

these retards (pardon my french) are really making me LOL. srsly.

they should even be thankful it's only for 3 hours. i wonder what will they say if it was the usual 9-6 sked.

*le sigh*

childish and stupid, i can live with - and ignore for the most part because at least my faction, and some right-minded players, do the point-and-laugh thing with me.

and me, a nerd? oh yes. i'm a nerd six ways from Sunday, all the way into next year, you bet your bippy i am.

it's the spastic swinging between OMG THERE'S A BUG FIX IT NAO NAO NAO and OMG YOU'RE TAKING DOWN THE SERVERS TO FIX THE BUG WE COMPLAINED ABOUT YOU ARE OPPRESSING US WE WANT COMPENSASHUN that really, really, annoys me.

it was also the same for caracci. even i was surprised (wasn't able to check the site), but i do hope they get to fix the bugs.

as for the whiners..i hope they get their just desserts. =_= compensation? idiots. srsly.

it's just for 3 bloody hours.

i'm afraid it's a bit of a meme / stereotype, but look at this list of characteristics and tell me where the character types of "idiot" and "online gamer" intersect:

- problems with expressing oneself, often shown in atrocious grammar/spelling/vocabulary
- extreme overuse of "tlkng lyk dis" and/or emoticons
- lack of capability in following logic
- extreme selfishness / "me me me" mentality
- misplaced aggression
- some misogyny
- judgmental mindset
- immaturity in sense of humor
- incapability in recognizing and responding to sarcasm, irony, etc. [extremely literal-minded]

there should be more that comes to mind.... but i think my point is made, eh?

errr sis..how about a separate blog entry for this? hehe. ;)
