A comment on The Requiem posters - and where I was when I logged out

Blacksword's compilation of the Version 2.6.3 The Requiem posters - and the differences among them. Of course, the original IMC poster was the best one for including both Calyce and Bai Hu, but we've got a bit to wait for them yet....

The official IAHGames combo graphic / poster for The Requiem. D'awwwww that I've still to wait a month for my Bai Hu! Oh no! My poor Feng Ling.......

I really do like the tagline, though, as it's so dramatic [and let me say it here: anything that has to do with Chaos Requiem is NOT gothic. You heard it here first!].

As darkness falls, true heroes emerge.....

This might as well be my final screenshot of the previous in-game UI, as apparently the old font from way back in the Beta Testing periods has made a comeback. But here's where I left the NineMoons Family in Caracci before the maintenance:

00330
Getting ready for another long hunt for rare quest drops, Bone Sariras in this case. It might be a little early for me to be in that dungeon, considering my level in the SS, but I've gained EXP quickly since then, boosted just a bit by the Combat Manual.

00334
Taking orders from a disembodied, levitating crystal skull is definitely messing with my team's heads, because now they're making Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull jokes~!

RADHANON: Take the feather out of your hat.
SHANDRE: Do you think you could use my gun-belt as a whip?
FURYK: I should be wearing khakis!

And just before logging out, I brought the team home to check for any final purchases from the Market Manager. Then since they were in Coimbra, I took this wonderful SS:

00331
I wonder what they're talking about as they look over the Port and the Pinta.... The looming possibility of Veteran level, perhaps?

Project: SEA/ANZ Granado Espada Hangaroo Version 1.2 is UP! Plus, news and notes pre-GE Version 2.6.3

Project SEA / ANZ Granado Espada Hangaroo Version 1.2: Download it HERE!

GE Hangaroo-blue

That's right! I've finished coding the new set of puzzles for this Flash-based, Granado Espada-inspired free game, based on the mega-popular Hangaroo PC game!

EDITED TO ADD: GE Hangaroo is this week's Featured Fan Submission at the IAHGames GE home page - check it out ^^ Whoever's playing the game in the screen capture there is about to guess Reconquista Policy, whee!

FeaturedFanSubmission

Although, I'm in Caracci now and not in Cervantes....

Instructions for download
1. Download the Hangaroo set-up file. You can either click the link in the previous paragraph to go to the official Hangaroo site, or use this handy direct download link: hangaroo_setup.exe.

2. Save the installer to your drive.

3. Double-click the file to install Hangaroo on your PC.

4. Download the GE-themed puzzles. In Hangaroo, the files where the puzzles are stored are called "phrase files". To play GE Hangaroo, download the latest phrase file here: GE Hangaroo Version 1.2.

5. Save the phrase file to your drive, and rename it "hangaroo.xml".

Instructions for playing GE Hangaroo
1. Double-click the Hangaroo icon to start the game.

2. Go to the MENU button in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen.

3. Select LOAD PHRASE FILE... from the menu.

4. Go to the directory where you saved the new hangaroo.xml [previously GE Hangaroo Version 1.2], and select it as the phrase file to be used.

5. The game should automatically restart, using the GE-themed puzzles.

GE Hangaroo game play
1. The object of the game is to save the kangaroo from death by hanging. To save him, answer 10 puzzles correctly.

2. Fill in the phrases by typing letters from the keyboard, or clicking the in-game keyboard with the mouse.

3. You can make up to a maximum of three wrong guesses per puzzle. The fourth wrong guess kills the kangaroo instantly!

4. If the kangaroo insults you, don't take it personally; it's his life on the line, after all!

5. You can read my tips, tricks, and strategies for playing GE Hangaroo if you just can't seem to save the kangaroo's life....

[Guide] Introducing Granado Espada: At the Movies

[Image-heavy post! If you're on dial-up, please do wait while the images are loading.]

Introducing Granado Espada is already tricky when you're talking to people who have some experience with role-playing games, whether these games be the tabletop-based kind [you know, old-school stuff, usually with polyhedral dice], or the Massively Multiplayer Online kind.

[Plug: NineMoons's non-intimidating guide to introducing GE.]

But what if you want to introduce someone who's never played online games before? That's far trickier - you can't use the familiar and accepted MMORPG jargon, but you can't just jump into the storyline or characters or any of the game's features without so much as a by-your-leave either.

You'll want to start describing easy-to-understand concepts, or use easily accessible language. One way you can do this is by associating GE with certain bits and pieces taken from recent blockbuster movies.

You could say that GE is set during a time of courts and kingdoms, fantastic voyages, and great wars, as in the following movies:

Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett;

Gladiator, with Russell Crowe;

and the Leonardo diCaprio-led version of The Man in the Iron Mask.

There are amazing adventures to be had, as in

The Brothers Grimm, starring Matt Damon and Heath Ledger;

and the Disney live-action version of The Three Musketeers.

There are swords, armor, guns, and even magical weapons to use, as in the two film trilogies of

The Lord of the Rings,

and Pirates of the Caribbean.

And finally, these historically-derived details are mixed with modern humor and music, and cutting-edge online mechanics to achieve a harmonious blend, as shown by the cast of

A Knight's Tale: from left to right, Mark Addy, Shannyn Sossamon, Heath Ledger, Paul Bettany,
Laura Fraser, Alan Tudyk, and James Purefoy.

And now that you've got their attention, then get them to make their accounts, and start the game! ^^

This just in: Selva Norte, an RNPC in Version 2.9.4

All images and information taken from doratomo.jp/~sannpomiti's Version 2.9.4 patch notes and information page!

Not too long ago I fielded a question regarding the Granado Espada character Selva Norte, a/k/a RCM Hrin's avatar. The question ran along the lines of, "Is Selva really an RNPC?" This was because we'd only been seeing her as a storyline character ever since her debut in Version 2.4.x, when she was introduced as a part of the White Baron Edward Jameson's backstory.

I think this question can now be considered officially answered.

SelvaNorteRNPC01
As was shown in the Version 2.6.3 The Requiem teasers, Selva is Edward Jameson's lover, and was pretty much also the object of Gavin Jameson's affections. Here she is, torn between the two men who love her.

SelvaNorteRNPC02
I may not be able to read hangul, but this is a familiar screen for those who watch the many teaser videos. Many of the recent RNPCs were introduced in just this style. Now, meet Selva Norte the RNPC.

SelvaNorteRNPC06
The picture says the stance is called "Cuchemar", but look at those skills. One of Selva's stances is Avance Garde. Corrected with the right picture of the Cuchemar skills from the official kGE site ... are those "life steal" skills?

SelvaNorteRNPC04
I've never seen those skills before, so I'll assume for now that Rapida Espada is Selva's second exclusive stance.

SelvaNorteRNPC05
No word yet on Selva's stats or see ETA below personal skill, though I expect we'll be hearing more about her in the upcoming days.

EDITED TO ADD: From Chinensis via the Selva Norte as UPC of the Week on the Sword of the New World forums comes Selva's stats!

SelvaNorteStats

Str: 7
Agi: 7
Con: 5
Dex: 5
Int: 5
Cha: 3

Hmm, decent Str + Agi and a lot more Int than the standard melee-type - is it likely she's a hybrid i.e. can use melee weapons AND magic like Panfilo and Karjalainen?

Man, I hope they finally manage to release The Requiem after the maintenance this coming Thursday - and I
really hope the patching doesn't cause the servers to crash in the process. ...Although, past history tells us we might just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

...I'll try to have something for you guys to do on Thursday while waiting to patch.

Dinosaurs, dragons, and soon - skellies! NineMoons in Ustiur

A long time ago I made my first foray into the Ustiur jungles, meeting distinguished base camp leaders Grandice, Queen of Pioneers, and Romina, leader of the Rescue Knights. I only made it as far as Ustiur Zona Dos in Cervantes, though, and had never even had a chance to take out the Tyrannosaurus lurking between Zona Dos and Zona Tres. [Got killed the only time I tried it, and never did it again.]

Not any more! Finally achieving the required levels on Carracci, I powered through Zona Uno and Zona Dos - and took out the mighty Tyrannosaurus on the very first attempt! I'm sorry there were no screenshots, as I was too nervous and too focused on the boss. I can go and try it again sometime, though....

But lest you think I'm just boasting, check out this screenshot:

00229
That is, of course, my NineMoons team in Caracci taking on a Hydradon - and that means I've made it as far as Zona Tres! This shot was taken en route to the Skull Dungeon. Next time I log into the game, I will try to see if I can survive that famous place.

This week will see several major announcements on the blog, so please do stay tuned. I promise I'll really make it worth your while to see what changes are in store!
